Unifi Appoints New Board Members

GREENSBORO, N.C., June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Unifi, Inc. (NYSE: UFI), the world's largest producer and processor of textured yarns, has announced the appointment of two new board members. William (Billy) J. Armfield, president of Spotswood Capital, and Sue Cole, president of U.S. Trust Company of North Carolina, will begin serving terms immediately for the Greensboro-based company.

Armfield is the former president and co-founder of Macfield, a yarn producer that merged with Unifi in 1991. He was vice chairman of Unifi until his resignation in 1995 and formerly served as the president of the American Textile Manufacturers Institute. Armfield is also a member of the board of trustees at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and at Woodberry Forest School.

Cole was recently selected second vice chairman of the North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry (NCCBI), and will become the first woman chairperson in the history of NCCBI in 2003. Cole also serves as a trustee at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is on the board of directors for the N.C. Center for Public Policy Research.
